Welcome

Welcome to the new Black Horse Fylde Coast Golf Society member system. The system has been developed to allow you to book into events, manage the emails you receive and view the status of your fiscal account with the society.

The system is new and as such it is bound to be flawed in some areas as it is also impossible to build a system which is perfect from the outset, so if you experience a problem please send an email to Support and they will be pleased to help you.

The events list is available to anybody, so if you want to tell a friend about an event simply send them an email and point them at the site. They can then read the information about the event for themsleves.

To book in and manage your account please use the information sent to you by email to login to the system.

If you think the system could be improved in any way please let us know, we would welcome your comments.

Society History

The Society was formed on the Fylde Coast when Managers of Lloyds Bank and Partners in the newly acquired Black Horse Agency - Entwistle Green, decided to form a Golf Society to further the relationship.

We first met at Royal Lytham in 1988 when Seve won The Open that year. The Society’s “Open” Trophy (as it was open to anyone paid by the Bank) was purchased and first played for at Knott End on Sea in 1989

The Bank withdrew funding to entertain customers 4 years later so guests were invited and we traditionally held just the one event. The original idea was that if you won the Open, you organised it the next year and were Captain at the next year’s event.

There are two types of membership of the Society, Full (Paid or pensioned by the Lloyds Tsb Group) and Associate. Joining Fee is £5 and Annual Subscriptions £10. Guests are very welcome and we ask that an additional £5 be paid to cover the prize they inevitably receive. Subscriptions are due on 1st February Annually. Non-Payment by 31st March results in automatic resignation of the Society.

In 2000, a Millennium trophy was bought by the Society to be played for by the Associate Membership. The Open is always played off full Club Handicaps (Max 24); the winners become Joint Captains for the next season and get docked two shots at next year’s Open – See Handicap Rules below.

In addition to the Open Trophy, 3 of the trophies (donated by George Chambers, John Winter and Eric West) from The Lloyds Bank Manchester and District Golf Society, which folded in 1992, are played for during our summer season of 6 events. The other two Order of Merit events also have annual trophies to play for. An Order of Merit Trophy is also presented to the member with the four best results over the 6-event season.

August 2008 saw the 20th Anniversary of the Society and a special one-off event was held at Royal Lytham. Additional overnight stay and 2 rounds of golf/hotel packages are held each year in June with other weekend breaks planned for the Autumn and Winter from 2010. Six “Winter Warmers” are organised by our Winter Secretary between October and April, again with an Order of Merit. A revised Handicap system applies in the winter.
